When it comes to meals, “The Boss” makes his own schedule.

In a new interview with The Times, legendary rockstar Bruce Springsteen, 75, revealed an unusual eating habit: He only eats one full meal a day.

When asked if this was really true by the reporter, Springsteen responded: “Pretty much. I’ll have a bit of fruit in the morning and then I’ll have dinner. That has kept me lean and mean.”

But the “Dancing in the Dark” singer is opening up about more than just his eating habits. The new interview also featured the leader of the E Street Band talking about his family life, his childhood and performing with his spouse.

Over the years, viewers have witnessed Super Bowl moments during the halftime show that have been memorable for various reasons. In 2004, Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake delivered a controversial performance that has continued to be a topic of conversation. At the time, Jackson joined Timberlake as a surprise guest, and a wardrobe malfunction ended […]

His wife Patti Scialfa, 71, is also a touring member of the E Street Band. They have been married since 1991 and share three children together: Sons Evan and Sam, who are 34 and 30, respectively, and a daughter named Jessica, who is 32.

“When Patti comes on stage with me, she understands I’m the captain of that particular ship,” the “Born in the U.S.A.” singer related. “The minute I step off stage, I’m the chauffeur who gets the kids to school at 6 a.m. I’ve known Pats, on and off, since she was 17, and we had a steady relationship as friends until we got together as a couple in 1988, when I was 38 and she was 34. It’s worked out pretty well … except for the fact that I tend to take up a lot of space.”

The two met in 1980 in a local New Jersey bar, and soon after, she was invited to tour with his band.

“She’s a very good songwriter, but she hasn’t got the credit due because she lives with a suck-all-the-air-out-of-the room attention whore,” he joked to the outlet . “She’s had a problem there. She’s got a beautiful record about to come out, but she’s had a tougher time getting her work recognized because of who she’s married to.”

Bruce Springsteen found his “Jersey Girl” in wife Patti Scialfa. “We’ve been together for 30 years. That’s a long [time] – you’ve shared a lot,” Springsteen gushed during an October 2019 appearance on CBS Mornings. “You know, Patti’s been at the center of my life for the entire second half of my life … and […]

Springsteen was candid about his wife’s health struggles as well. In 2018, Scialfa was diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, called multiple myeloma.

“They found it early on and she’s got really good doctors who have helped a lot,” he told The Times. “But it does fatigue her, very intensely, and that’s a problem. I’m doing a three-hour show, which is fatiguing for me and I’m pretty much at the top of my health. But she’s been great. We’ve worked out that she can come out and sing a few songs, and it’s important that the fans know what’s going on because they haven’t seen her in five years. Patti decided she owed that to her audience.”
